Introduction

Starting from October 1, 2019, all telecommunications products produced, imported, distributed, or sold in the Indian market are required to undergo TEC certification under the Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecommunications Equipment Act issued by the TEC India Telecommunications Engineering Center.

The relationship between TEC certification, BIS certification, and WPC certification

TEC: is the Telecommunications Engineering Center of India, officially known as Telecommunication Engineering Center, which certifies and controls network communication products.

BIS: The Bureau of Indian Standards, officially known as BIS, is responsible for certifying and controlling safety regulations.

WPC: It is the organization in India that regulates wireless regulations, with the full name Wireless Planning and Coordination Wing. WPC certifies and controls wireless products.

Applicable product scope

Communication or network devices that interface with public networks or wide area network (WAN) services. Common telecommunications network interfaces include T1/E1, ISDN BRI, PRI ISDN, ADSL, serial and analog PSTN, and so on.

·Simplified Certification Scheme (SCS) - The application displays test results as necessary and includes a Supplier Integrity Statement (SDoC).

TEC certification is divided into two categories: Interface Approval and Type Approval.

The Interface Approval is based on the Interface Requirements (IR) standards published by TEC.
