Introduction

IC stands for Industry Canada, a government agency responsible for certifying electronic and electrical products entering the Canadian market. Its responsible products are roughly divided into: broadcasting and television equipment, information technology equipment, radio equipment, telecommunications equipment, engineering and medical equipment, etc. Similar to the FCC in the United States, IC currently only imposes restrictions on electromagnetic interference.

Certification category

There are two methods that can be used: self verification and Certification certification.

IC ID: CN (Company Number, up to 6 digits)+UPN (Unique Product Number, up to 8 digits).

IC ID Application Notice:

1. Canadian representative address information is required.

2. The label should include the following information (manufacturer name or trademark, model name, IC ID number).

Application Process

1. The manufacturer or agent submits a preliminary application, either orally or in writing, to the certification company.

2. The applicant shall fill out the application form, send the application form, product manual, and technical documents to the certification company, and if necessary, provide a prototype.

3. The certification company formulates a plan and provides a quotation.

4. The applicant confirms the quotation, signs the quotation, and sends the samples and relevant technical documents to the certification company.

5. The applicant provides technical documents.

6. The certification company issues a fee notice to the applicant, and the applicant is required to prepay the certification fee according to the fee notice.

7. The certification company reviews technical documents and organizes relevant certification activities.

8. If the technical documents are incomplete or the specified language is not used, the certification company will notify the applicant to make improvements.

9. If the test fails, the certification company will promptly notify the applicant and decide whether to suspend the project and allow the applicant to make improvements to the product. The applicant should make changes to the technical information in the original application to reflect the actual situation after the changes.

10. The certification company will issue a supplementary fee notice to the applicant regarding the rectification costs involved in items 9 and 10 on this page.

11. The applicant is required to pay the rectification fee according to the supplementary fee notice.

12. The certification company provides test reports, technical documents, and certificates to the applicant.
