Introduction
The Superintendencia de Electricidady Combustibles (SEC) is the national agency in Chile that formulates regulations for electrical products. The Chilean national agency SEC (Superior of Electricity and Combustible Fuels) regulates the entry of electrical, gasoline, and fuel products into the Chilean market through safety and energy efficiency regulations, and uses accredited laboratories and certification bodies. Before the product is sold to the Chilean market, it must obtain a certification through one of the authentication modes (there are many authentication modes, and the first, second, sixth, and third authentication modes will be introduced below), an SEC QR code (as shown below), and an energy efficiency certificate.

SEC Certification Basic Information
Certification nature: Mandatory
Local testing: No need
Local representative: Required
Certificate validity period: Long term
Certification Mark: Yes
Applicable product scope
Chile has implemented mandatory certification for some household appliances, and the scope of products covered by Order 399 is detailed in the "List of Mandatory Certification Electrical Products" published on the website of the Electrical and Flammable Substances Supervision Commission. The list of mandatory certification electrical products currently includes about 100 types of products. About 30 of them should be tested using Chilean standards. All other products are tested and certified according to IEC standards. In principle, SEC directly adopts IEC standards or Chilean standards equivalent to IEC. The Chilean NCh standards for electrical products are based on IEC standards; The certification system for electronic products, such as consumer electronics, telecommunications equipment, and information technology equipment, is still being developed.

Certification Type
The Chilean SEC has 6 options, and the following 3 are suitable for domestic use:
Certification Mode 1: Includes formal testing+evaluation of each subsequent batch of goods
Mode 1 process: Provide at least 3 samples for testing and obtain certification and SEC QR code. After obtaining the certification, the SEC QR code must be affixed to the product.
After the issuance of the certificate of recognition, the customer/applicant must inform us of the situation of each batch of goods exported to Chile
We will take a certain number of samples based on the quantity of goods and conduct necessary tests after each batch of goods arrives at the port. Only products that have passed testing can be put on the market for sale
Certification Mode 2: Includes formal testing+factory inspection+semi annual product evaluation testing+semi annual market spot checks
Mode 2 process:
Provide at least 3 samples for testing and obtain certification and SEC QR code. After obtaining the certification, the SEC QR code must be affixed to the product.
After the issuance of the 2 accreditation certificates, sampling tests will be conducted from the market every six months (by Chilean laboratory institutions in Chile) and from the factory every six months.
Conduct an annual factory inspection once a year (the certificate is valid for a long time, as long as the factory inspection and sampling are accepted)
Certification mode 6: Recognition of foreign certification+supervision and testing of each batch of goods
Mode 6 process:
The importer must first submit to the Chilean SEC the certification certificate that the product has already obtained (such as GS VDE TUV mark UL, etc.)!
Please note that foreign certifications that can be recognized must be issued by foreign certification agencies recognized by IAF members or contracting countries, and the certificate can be found on the website of the certification agency.
The two importers will notify us of the arrival of the imported goods at the port, and we will arrange for sampling and simplified testing to obtain the approval certificate.
