Introduction

TISI is the abbreviation of the Thai Industrial Standards Institute. TISI is a department under the Ministry of Industry of Thailand, responsible for developing standards and international standards that meet domestic needs, as well as monitoring products and qualification assessment procedures to ensure compliance with standards and accreditation. TISI is not only the government regulatory agency for mandatory certification in Thailand, but also the standard setting and management agency, certification agency, laboratory accreditation, personnel training, and registration agency. It is worth noting that Thailand does not have any non-governmental mandatory certification bodies.

Thailand implements a TISI certification system that combines mandatory and voluntary certification. For products that meet the standards, the use of TISI logo is allowed. For products that have not yet developed standards, TISI also implements product registration as a temporary certification method.

The Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) has developed standards to meet the needs and development of the country's industry, enterprises, economy, government, and society, as well as government policy support, consumer protection, and environmental and natural resource conservation. TISI offers a product certification program that includes two types of certification marks, namely the voluntary certification mark and the mandatory certification mark.

Applicable product scope

The content of TISI includes technical specifications, product characteristics, product operational performance, raw material quality, and testing procedures. At present, there are over 2000 standards covering many consumer products, such as food, appliances, vehicles, building materials, etc. The Thai government requires mandatory certification for 60 major categories of products, covering 8 fields, including electrical equipment and accessories, medical equipment, building materials, daily consumer goods, vehicles, PVC pipes, LPG gas containers, and agricultural products. In addition, the certification of other categories of products is voluntary certification.

Application Process

1. The customer provides product information and importer information to NTEK, and NTEK contacts the local Thai importer to collect relevant documents;

2. The customer provides samples and testing documents, and NTEK sends the samples to the TIS accredited laboratory in Thailand for testing arrangements;

3. NTEK confirmed the factory inspection date with the customer and Thai engineers, and confirmed the itinerary of the Thai engineers two weeks in advance and made relevant arrangements. NTEK assists in factory inspection and accompanies translation;

4. NTEK follows up on the testing progress and factory inspection report progress, and after both are completed, issues the TISI certificate.

Before or during the application for TISI certificate, the product nameplate cannot bear the certification mark. After obtaining the TISI certificate, the product must bear the TISI certification mark and the name of the certificate holder, and the merchant must attach the safety label to the product before it enters Thailand.
