Introduction

The Taiwan BSMI certification "Information Commodity Electrical Safety Specification Inspection Standard" CNS14336-1 (1999 edition) has been implemented since January 1, 2012, while the previous version of Taiwan BSMI certification CNS 14336 (2005 edition) is no longer applicable from the same day. The Taiwan BSMI certification CNS13438 (1995 full version) was announced on August 16, 2010, establishing the "Inspection Standard CNS 13438 'Information Technology Equipment - Radio Frequency Interference Characteristics - Limiting Values and Measurement Methods' with the addition of inspection regulations for radiation testing above 1GHz and telecommunications port conduction testing items", which came into effect on October 1, 2010. BSMI is the abbreviation of the English "Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection" of the Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Authentication Mode

BSMI certification in Taiwan, China, China is mandatory and requires both EMC and SAFETY. However, BSMI does not have factory inspection at present, but it must comply with the regulations of the Bureau of Standards. So, the certification model of BSMI is: product inspection+registration supervision.

BSMI application method

Type approval includes two types:

1. EMC type approval (replacing the original EMC application) is mandatory from November 1, 2002. Applicable products: 61 electronic and electrical products only require EMI requirements, while 124 electronic and electrical products only require EMI+safety reports (if the product has safety requirements). Applicable standards: Only EMI. The required documents include (application for electromagnetic compatibility type approval, test report, technical documents: photos, labels, components with electromagnetic compatibility, block diagram, and user manual).

2. Type approval (EMC+Safety), starting from January 1, 2004, 178 types of electronic and electrical products are required to apply for this approval. Applicable standards: EMC+Safety. The required documents include (product type approval application, company or factory license, test report, technical documents for electromagnetic compatibility: photos, labels, components with electromagnetic interference, block diagram and user manual, and safety technical documents). Certificate validity period: Three years, extendable once.

BSMI certification registration

Mandatory execution date: not yet announced, applicable standards: EMI+safety regulations. The required documents include (application for product type approval, company or factory license, test report, technical documents for electromagnetic compatibility: photos, labels, components with electromagnetic interference, block diagrams and user manuals, as well as technical documents for safety regulations and compliance statements). Certificate validity period: Three years, extendable once

BSMI Certification Compliance Statement

Mandatory execution date: January 18, 2002. Applicable products: 19 types of information technology equipment components. Applicable standard: CNS13438 (ONLY EMC). The required documents include (compliance statement, test report, technical files: photos, labels, electromagnetic interference components, block diagrams, and user manuals). No certificate. For electronic and electrical products, the three application methods provided by the Standards Bureau have the following characteristics:

The conformity declaration only applies to some components of information technology equipment (please refer to the product description on the website of the Standards Inspection Bureau)

It is up to the product cost manufacturer to decide whether to apply for certification registration or type approval.

The difference between certification registration and type approval lies in:

Inspection method: If the product has already obtained type approval, the inspection of the customer will be simplified. For products applying for certification registration, customers will not be inspected, and random market testing will be conducted

Applicable product scope

If your product falls within the following range, you need to apply for verification to expand the domestic market:

1. Mandatory Commodity Inspection Mark (CI MARK): Electrical products (such as household appliances), electronic products (such as information and entertainment audiovisual equipment), mechanical products (such as power tool equipment), chemical products (such as tires and toys).

2. CNS MARK: Industrial products, building materials, wires, household appliances, automotive parts, industrial raw materials, or competitors' products that already have the CNS MARK.

3. Voluntary Product Verification Mark (VPC MARK): Safety critical components, digital set-top boxes, lamp holders, battery chargers, restricted hazardous substances, lithium batteries, vehicle electromagnetic compatibility, sports and fitness equipment, etc.
