Introduction

IRAM was established in 1935 and is a certification body for electronic technology products recognized by OAA (Argentina Accreditation Organization). It is also a certification body for mandatory certification products recognized by the government. The IRAM Safety Mark is a mandatory certification mark in Argentina (excluding exempted products).

Basic Information of S-MARK Certification

Technical information: Voltage frequency AC220V/50Hz, plug IRAM 2073/IRAM 2063:2009/IRAM 2063:2009

Mandatory: Compulsory

Certificate validity period: no validity period, annual review maintains validity

Factory inspection requirements: For logo certification, the first factory inspection and annual audit are required

Certificate holder requirement: No requirement

Applicable product scope

The Argentine government has passed two new resolutions, Resolution 197/2004 and Resolution 198/2004. Resolution 197/2004 allows manufacturers and importers to choose different certification systems for themselves. The Argentine authorities revised the certification system at the end of 2004 and published Resolution 197/2004, which put this plan into practice. Resolution 197/2004 applies to the following products: electronic and electrical products, toys, and personal protective equipment.

Electrical appliance applicants can choose any of the following certification methods:

A Mark Certification

B-type certification

Batch Certification for C

However, in 1984/2004, there were mandatory certification requirements for some electrical and electronic products. The agreement stipulates that the following products are no longer included in the scope of mandatory certification:

-Products with a rated current greater than 63A

-Rated voltage less than 50V, using battery power supply

-Rated electrical voltage less than 50V, with external power supply (including battery operation)

In addition, the following requirements must also be met:

-The power supply must have a valid Argentine certification

-The product manual must indicate the technical parameters or model of the adapted power supply

-The product manual must indicate that using non designated power sources is dangerous

However, products that are still subject to mandatory certification requirements below 50V include:

-Using lighting and lighting supply system on mains 50V AC

-Bi directional color lamp and lamp holder

-Handheld electric tools

-Electric fence starter

-Fitness electronic muscle stimulator

Application Process

1. Fill out the application form

2. Report issued according to IEC or IRAM standards

3. Provide proof of differences that meet the requirements of the Argentine country, such as difference reports

4. Sample identification

5. List certified importers and exporters in Argentina

6. Trademark registration

7. Registering a company name in public commerce

8. Sign program rules

9. Factory inspection report (once a year)

The nameplate is printed with safety warnings in Spanish, a Spanish user manual, and a factory inspection report from Rheinland, Germany

The plug complies with the Argentine IRAM 2063/273 standard certificate (if the plug does not comply with the Argentine IRAM standard, an additional specification sheet and sample of the power plug need to be provided)
